Xbox One

I’ve never bought a modern gaming console. As Riley was growing up I always got the latest and greatest computer hardware and graphics processors for my builds and he played Windows based computer games.

Now I’m out here in the Idaho sticks with a nice Samsung LCD flat-screen and a seemingly insatiable craving for the latest and greatest toys.

The new Xbox comes out in November. I figure by mid December it should be readily available and I’m getting one. I make this decision based on the following parameters:

  • I’m back to work and I can now start throwing a few bucks into the Xbox jar.
  • I’m not a game player, I’m a computer programmer, but the thought of kicking some punk little ass globally across my high-speed internet kind of appeals to the grumpy old man side of me.
  • Steph appreciates when I hunker down in my office to write code because she can get a lot of stuff done around the house. Now she’ll never see me…
  • It will prevent me from devoting massive amounts of brain energy into code projects that nobody understands, or uses.

btw: Do you know what happened 163 years ago this summer? California became a state! The people had no electricity, the state had no money, almost everyone spoke Spanish, and there were gunfights in the streets. So basically nothing has changed, except the women had real boobs and the men didn’t hold hands.
