The name Bates often conjures up Hitchcock’s Hotel but in this case it represents the premiere alternative to traveling from Driggs to Victor on a Friday afternoon.
Highway 33 is straight and efficient while Bates Road is rustic and raw. They both arrive at the same place, with only a few minutes difference in time, but the views are spectacularly different. This was my afternoon drive today…

White buffalo? Or molting with the oncoming summer?
A pretty dirty white buffalo. Always good luck. Nice shots.
It is a white buffalo. It was owned by and old guy born and raised here who wrote articles for our local paper. After he died the family took over the ranch.
Huntsman Springs in Driggs has white buffalo’s so their not too uncommon…
Great pics! No bald eagles this trip? :) Is that a different white buffalo than Huntsman’s?
It is another white! Bald eagles lacking this time around, probably hanging out at your house :-)
