Steph

I was perusing the blog tonight and I kept noticing references to Steph. I then realized I had no pictures of this mysterious live-in roommate lover of mine. I shower with her every morning, I sleep with her at night, but she is nowhere to be found on my blog.

So, to correct this issue, here’s Steph:

I’ll just let the bacon, lettuce, tomato and bread speak for themselves…

BLT Fridays

The Farmers Market runs every Friday during the summer. Teton Valley has several organic farms ( Snowdrift,  Cosmic Apple ), and they bring their goodies here.

Once you taste a fresh organic tomato, it’s hard to even look at tomato’s in the grocery store. This beauty here weighs 1.3 pounds, is perfectly ripe, and cost me 6 bucks. The green onions were pulled from the ground this morning, are two feet in length, and cost me a buck.

So, come supper time on Friday we slice up a tomato, cook up some thick sliced bacon, combine with fresh market bread and local grown lettuce, and have the finest Bacon Lettuce and Tomato sandwich on the planet.

And no, the green onions don’t go on the sandwich. We use the left over tomato, along with green onions, to compliment salads during the week.

Beautiful evening, great sunset. Took a couple shots from the backyard tonight…

Afternoon Wood

Steph has been trouncing around the back forty lately, killing stuff with a gas-powered weed eating machine. She came in today and handed me this little thing that had stuck in her shoe. It’s less then an inch long, hard, and looks like wood.

Tank Plants

I took the shot to the left on June 12th, and the one on the right this weekend. Steph planted those shrubs by the propane tank, when it was installed a few years ago.

They survived four feet of snow and really took off this summer!

Opening The Box

I took the Talking Box into the family room this afternoon, to dissect it. I had to kick the temporary cat out the door first, her munching on food was messing with the audio…

So here we go, one take, I’m going after the talking thing… Oops, I just ran up against the stupid 90 second Flickr video limit, so here’s part 1:

The Talking Box

I went out into the garage this morning, to start up my truck (a 79 lifted Chevy Silverado named Jack), to take him into town for a service. There was a cardboard box sitting on his hood, so I just backed out of the garage, leaving the box there.

I jumped out and grabbed the box, to move it back into the garage. As I picked it up, I really wished I’d worn my brown pants! I thought I was in the Twilight Zone for a second. The damned box was talking!

It turns out Steph was cleaning the garage, and left the box on my truck. Somewhere inside the box is one of her grandson Dillan’s toys.

I still haven’t looked inside, I’m too freaked out!

Trapped

Our garage door tanked on us last night. The cable broke, and the do-lapper-dinker stopped spinning on it’s rocking ball. Our vehicles are trapped inside. Fortunately, the “G Man” is on his way. Garage door repair on a Sunday is pretty cool.

Hot Tub Dance

I labored over our hot tub last weekend, draining and scrubbing, a kind of monthly, regular, weekend chore. I don’t do chemicals, other then an occasional chlorine shock, so I clean the tub often.

Here’s a video I shot after wrapping up the job. Notice the condition of the deck. Needs work bad :-) And, that little plastic thing on the deck is one of my cleaning tools.

The Cup Cometh

Teton Valley’s annual summer fund raiser is tomorrow. It’s the 4th annual Tin Cup Challenge consisting of marathon races, a 5k and 10k run, and a gathering in the park where it seems everybody in the valley shows up. It’s a great event and raises lots of money for our struggling non-profits.

Since the runners come right by our subdivision on Ski Hill Road, Steph and I just mosey out there in the morning, with chairs, and take pictures.

Last year my niece and nephew (twins) ran it, but Brian’s in Paris right now, so it’s just Catherine running tomorrow. I thought about running this year but I misplaced my running shoes (20 years ago).

After the runners pass we’ll head into town and enjoy the park. I’m taking lots of pictures, so be sure to drop by for the Saturday evening post.
