If pretty piper laid beneath a pile of printed papers, how many piles of printed papers could pretty piper pluck?

Steph often says that Piper is my cat. Maybe it’s because she loves to soak up the sun. I do know that she loves to pose when my camera starts clicking :-)

btw: This has triggered my yawn reflex more than once now :-)

Poor Pipes, she just endures winter. She’s a lot like me, she doesn’t ski and she hates snow, but she will venture out occasionally, looking for a dry strip of deck.

She doesn’t last out there very long…

One of these days, the vole that’s been tearing up our lawn is going to come face to face with the great hunting cat, Piper. His ass will be grass, so to speak…

Pipers belly is warm, soft and beautiful. I face-plant that space with kisses all the time and it’s been years since the claws have come out.

Ok dad, maybe I’m just not in the mood to play…

Maybe I just want to hang out under the pretty umbrella.

1,002 days ago (2 years, 8 months, 28 days), Piper became a permanent member of our family when her previous owner Megan passed her care to us. (The Permanent Cat).

During all that time she has never spent the night anywhere but our house. On the two occasions that Steph and I were both gone at the same time my nephew Brian stepped up and stayed here and watched her.

Tonight, we took her to my sisters house for a sleepover. My niece is home from studies in New York and between the two of them I’m hoping Piper will feel at home. Sis’s house is large with many rooms so I’m not sure if Pipes is going to be given free range to explore, but we’ll see.

The grand scheme is to have Piper spend a week with my sister when Steph and I travel to Washington this summer. I’m hoping she’ll understand that she’s just visiting, when we pick her back up tomorrow.

Piper seems to have made herself at home, her bed and food are set and we brought along a box with her treats, brush, morning gravy and favorite toy.

A box showed up in my office yesterday containing black ink cartridges for my printer. I print out our company documents from here and the company keeps me supplied in ink.

The Rexburg drivers coordinated together to get the box up here and it passed between a few hands. Once the cartridges were removed, it became Pipers property. I guess it’s going to stay here for a while, right next to her scratchpad.

With that look would you dare to take it away from her?

A most amazing thing happened today between our cat Piper, and me. If you give an animal unconditional love and prove to them that they can trust you 100%, they can give it back. Since Piper has come into our lives we have bonded solidly. I spent a winter hunkered down with her while Steph was gone and I saved her life during that time by getting her to the Vet in time to treat a horrible infection.

She totally gives up her belly when I brush her and I place gentle kisses in the soft part and whisper I love you. During the day when I come home I find where she’s sleeping, kiss her on the forehead and tell her I love her.

Ok, yes I have a girlfriend and I should probably be doing this to her but she would most assuredly freak out!

Today, Steph started up the weed-whacker outside and I watched Piper waddle her fat self to the back part of the house because she can’t handle the noise. A while later I went looking for her and found her under a chair in our bedroom. I got down on the floor and petted her, stroked her belly for a bit and then sent two air kisses her way. You know, when you pucker your lips and make that sound…

Here’s the amazing part. She looked me in the eye and sent two kisses back. Her mouth actually puckered up each time, a sound was made, and I felt her love.

Piper’s found a new spot to view her kingdom from, it’s the top of our underground propane tank. Steph spotted her there last evening as the sun was going down, so the photo’s a bit grainy. The wires are part of our off the grid TV setup.

btw: My bus is safely tucked away back at base and my summer begins now :-)

As the weekend approaches and it’s just me and the cat hanging out I figured I better issue a Piper Update for her many fans. Nothings really changed much, still yawning and sleeping. She has taken to hanging out on my favorite rocking chair, that’s new!

Hottub bathing suits are still a prefered blanket…

…and her shaved area is growing new hair back!

I gave Piper her peticure yesterday as she napped by the hottub. I’m sure she enjoyed it as the tail was wagging while she pretended to be asleep.

Piper’s not aware that I’ve tied one of her toys to her belly! It’s Saturday morning fun :-)
