Two Dollars

Well, here it is, almost Christmas again. Sigh… Fortunately, there is always one aspect of this holiday that I truly enjoy and that is coming up with a creative way to make my kids smile. To a lot of them, I’m the first and only bus driver they have ever known and I really enjoy giving them little gifts on the holidays.

This year I’m giving them the gift of respect, pride and responsibility. I asked my banker lady Michelle to order a batch of brand new two dollar bills and they just showed up and I bought forty of them.

She also gave me individual envelopes with a Christmas wrapper for each. The idea is to give these kids something special that they can respect and keep, as opposed to something they will never remember. These are uncirculated bills, in mint condition.

The challenge will be to convince the kids to not open the envelopes until they get home and hopefully the parents will understand the concept, and take it from there…

Frozen Course

I drove by the world class golf course at Huntsman Springs today and took these shots. The water obstacles are frozen and so is the grass. Oh, and there was nobody out there…

We’ve had a warming spell here for the last couple of days so it’s interesting to see frozen landscape as opposed to just snow cover.

Stephs 50

Steph turned fifty today and we went to dinner tonight to celebrate the event. My family in The Valley has become very concise, and I am honored to be a part of it. They were all here tonight at the new West Side Yard in Victor to celebrate Steph’s milestone.

This was the best local dinner I’ve had here in a long time. The dining area was far from the bar, and the food and service were terrific. I mosied over to the bar at one point and found my tire guy Hal and Steph’s former coworker Chad, and brought them back to the table for a fun reunion. I also passed around Steph’s new Chromebook and Anika got to watch her video work! Like always, click the photo below for some more…

Be Nice

As we go through our day, we playback in our mind how we will respond to the situations occurring around us. We plan reaction scenarios to our daily life events.

You may be angry at a situation and you plan an angry response in your head. When the event occurs, in the moment, it’s always different than you perceived.

As I get older, I’ve learned how to tone down that anger. I say to myself, be nice! If you’re entering a possible confrontational situation it’s amazing how a subtle smile and soft kind words, changes everything…

Lighten up, put a smile in your eyes, and be nice.

Peace Park

After Grand Targhee shut down for the season last year, a bunch of professional snow boarders came in and carved out a snowboarding course they called Peace Park 2014, up on Peaked Mountain. They kept it very quiet, obviously to keep the public away, and then invited the best snow boarders in the world to come up and play. The video aired on ABC last Sunday, which put our local ski resort on the world stage.

I’m presenting the video here at the point where they turn down Jackson Hole and then come into our Valley to check us out.

A drone was used to shoot this footage, and it’s spectacular!
