I walked around inside the GeoTourism Center this morning, and it was fantastic, well worth the nine year wait. So, dive right in by clicking the magic picture below!

Tune Up

I believe strongly in preventative maintenance for your vehicle, especially if you rely on it to get you and your electronics back home safely from a long summer trip. I’m not a very good mechanic so I have professionals do most of the work but I can still do a tune up on a 1988 vehicle with a cap and rotor and no computer.

Still, a lot can go wrong, like over-tightening the plugs, mixing the wires up or not seating the connections properly. When she fired right up and purred like a kitten, I was relieved. Yesterday I had the driveline fluids flushed and refilled down in Rexburg so I guess I’m ready for my next trip, wherever that is…

Sunset Tree

The weather is beautiful around here at the moment and the sunset reflecting on our trees is pulchritudinous!

Backyard Moose

Our backyard is a wildlife corridor. Animals venture from the Teton foothills, across the creek and out into the wide open spaces at the end of our yard. We recently had a large herd of elk pass through the same path that this solo moose took the other day.

Geo Tourism

Finally, it’s open! The Teton Geotourism Center had a great crowd in Driggs today as they opened their doors to the public. This project has been underway since we moved here 9 years ago and has been sadly floundering. They had the grants but no vision or management.

This is actually a really big deal for our town. It’s being touted as the first of it’s kind in the country. There was even a bigshot from National Geographic that gave a speech today complimenting everything.

The crowds grew impressively, some famous opera singer sang something and then the dancers started Celebrating. Check out the photos by clicking the picture below and then watch the dancing video.

Mt Washington

Sisters Oregon is a quaint little tourist trap 22 Miles outside of Bend. I’ve often wondered how the name was derived and after looking at the map, I get it.

The area has some very distinguished mountain peaks and one’s called North Sister and the other South Sister. The most prominent peak is Mt Washington and there’s a great viewpoint as you head towards the coast. Click the photo to see my shots.
