That makes my heart hurt. So much work goes into those fields. Hope the Lord sees fit to help the farmers.
Almost every packaged food product has corn in it. It’s called “the Cornification” of America. What is sad is that our Congress/Senate has not passed a Farm Bill yet. They were supposed to have done it over a year ago but kicked the can down the road to this year and now they’ve kicked the can down the road to next year, hoping that with the passage of the insurance to drought stricken farmers it will make people forget they haven’t passed the whole farm bill. That doesn’t affect corporate growers but it does hurt small or family run growers/farmers. A friend of mine wrote a book called “Food Fight” (Dan Imhoff) about the farm bill. As I told you when you asked my political persuasion I said I’m for the little guy. You bet our food prices are going to rise… Meat, eggs, milk, etc. are all going to cost us more.
I’ve heard of Food Fight, I’ll have to add it to my reading list, right after I finish On The Road again, which is on-board my truck!
