Pipers Pad

Our house gets really cold at night. In the dead of winter, temps can drop near -40F.
We don’t use our propane to keep the main house warm at night, but now we have a cat.

The last couple of weeks Pipers been allowed to sleep at the foot of our heated bed.
She’s actually a very good bed sleeper, but I needed to find another option.

So I found this very cool heated pad on Amazon that turns on when she lays on it, and turns off when she leaves. It heats up to the vet recommended temp of 102 degrees.

She loves it! And, she owns that couch in the living room, we use the family room couch.

Update: Notice that arc thing over her nose? At first I thought it was just a photographic nuance, but no, looking at her face here in person, it’s there! Funny I’d never noticed…

  1. I always knew that under that Sam Elliott style exterior there beat the heart of a real softy. It took a cat to prove it to the world.

  2. I’ve always been a cat lover, Rod. Back in the early eighties I was living up in the Oakland, CA hills. I awoke one morning and realized my daughter had started her first period.

I had a great golden male cat that loved to hang out on my shoulders, so the two of us headed down the hill that morning, to pick up supplies.

I also owned a very sweet Triumph Spitfire at the time, so we cruised the entire way with the top down, cat laying on my shoulders.

We entered the Seven-Eleven, bought sanitary napkins, and returned home. He never left his perch the entire trip!

    Sam Elliott…

  3. Well Sam, I guess we have more in common than I thought. I have always had a spirit connection with cats. I think I must be part cat. I have yet to meet one that I cannot charm, even when the owner says to stay away for the sake of health. We have 14 cats now officially and have 8 outdoor strays we feed and provide a flop for. People drop them somewhere around here but not real close. I think they sense the kindred spirit and follow their senses here. That has always been how it is. We have had as best as we can remember about 44 cats in our 29 years together.

  4. Yea, I’ve known you were a cat guy for some time now. You just never knew I was one.

I’m feeling pretty bad now Rod. I pick up a little Mexican girl named Ashley, out on Hwy 31, daily. Last week there was a young cat rolling on the ground, and crying out, in their driveway. They took no ownership of this cat and I felt guilty driving away. Piper is our major handful, she sleeps on our bed, and we’re covered in snow. What to do…
