Homework

Steph’s office desk is a bit cluttered lately, and there’s no computer there anyway, so she resorts to her big bed to get the Suburban Propane homework done.

Valentines

This photo represents elements that came together for Steph on Valentines day. The bedcovers came from Zulily, the flowers came from Broulims and the basket for her co-worker Dusty’s new baby came from her creativity.

Additions

My Christmas shopping is done. I got Steph a couple of additions for her new Chromebook: a nice little Logitech wireless mouse and a 32g card to store her music and photos. Now, on to New Years…

btw: I handed out more than thirty envelopes to my kids last week, so my non-grinch karma is solidly intact :-)

Stephs Gift

Steph has one of those milestone birthdays coming up a week from today: she’s turning the big eight-oh! We’re taking her out to dinner that night, and her present from me arrives today on the old UPS truck.

People her age have certain physical issues that inhibit functions we take for granted, like using a traditional computer for reading stupid crap on Facebook. Add to that a failing cognitive health and the poor old broad really has problems in front of a monitor.

So, as her main boy-toy, I’ve stepped up to the plate and bought her an Acer C720P 11.6-inch touchscreen Chromebook. This thing is sweet and should provide every computer function she needs for, you know, Facebook…

Having an older girlfriend has been interesting. When I was born she was starting her period and growing nubbins. I have become a wiser man from her knowledge and experience. Unfortunately, she barely remembers my name these days so I hope this new computer will help. I’m setting up the screensaver to say “His name is Jim“!

I’ll put some un-boxing photos up here after the Chromebook arrives this afternoon.

Update: Here’s the package:

And here she is getting to know her big daddy:

Silent Flight

This is the most intensive cross stitch project I’ve ever witnessed Steph do. It’s a counted cross stitch design that uses both full and half stitches, titled Silent Flight. I can’t remember when she took it over from her daughter in it’s infancy, but it’s been months, with countless hours invested!

The project is finally done, matted and framed. Instead of going on our wall or sold at an art gallery, she’s shipping it back to Melissa. My photo doesn’t do this cross stitch justice as I cropped it within the frame for the blog. The finished work is much more expansive and colorful in person.

Meet The Star

A guy walked into Steph’s Suburban Propane office yesterday to sign a service agreement for some propane. Steph blurted out “Are you Deeks from NCIS Los Angeles?” and he replied “Yes I am“.

It turns out a star from a favorite TV show was in our Valley! I really enjoy the show and I like the character he plays. Very cool…

Stephs Ride

There are four videos here of Stephs latest hot air balloon adventure. The first is a composite of the inflation and launch followed by a three part video taken from the GoPro that was strapped to her head.

All videos were uploaded in high-def. If they don’t stream for you try playing them from YouTube by clicking the lower right icon.

My Roommate

My roommate is an alien. She hides her grotesque features with a mask and lights flash out of her head. Strange words also come out of her mouth.

Just now she said My little baby is asleep in my butt hole! Really?

It turns out she was referring to Piper cat asleep in the depression her butt made in the spare bed where she’s been sleeping to avoid my germs.

Expecting

Steph is expecting, and she’s finally able to do a baby basket that suits her own taste, and nobody else is going to put a baby basket like this together, so she made it today.

It’s also her birthday next Tuesday and she’s expecting a nice dinner out on the town. Her company Christmas party is on Friday and I expect she will give the basket to her pregnant co-worker. Another great basket, and perhaps the last for a while…

Little Dragon

Steph’s boss brought his son into the propane office to show off the costume she made for him. Apparently, he really loves it and want’s to wear it all the time now. She offered to hem up the bottoms but they’re just going to roll them up.

There’s a costume contest happening next week on Halloween eve at Kings. I think this boy, and Steph’s creation, could do very well.

Dragon Costume

Steph whipped up this Halloween Dragon Costume for her bosses young son this weekend. Very nice job! There’s an abundance of creative talent around this log home in the Rockies, and as far as points with the boss goes, well, (ding, ding, ding! :-)

Steph has created a costume from scratch for her niece Raylee. I don’t profess to understand the concept, but I totally appreciate the creativity.

Puyallup 2013

I gave Steph my previous Canon point & shoot a while back and she got some nice shots from her trip to the Puyallup Fair last week. This is the Washington State Fair and is billed as the largest single attraction held annually in the state of Washington.

I took Riley to many of these fairs as he was growing up and I can attest to it’s size. You could probably cram about ten of our local Eastern Idaho State Fair‘s into the Puyallup.

Boners Basket

Jeanette and Brad Boner are having a baby! Jeannette is the co-editor of our local newspaper, the Valley Citizen and Steph used to work for her when Jet was the editor of our other paper, the Teton Valley News. Brad was the chief photographer for the Jackson Hole News & Guide and is currently freelancing.

The Teton Valley News was good times when we first moved here and we hosted two consecutive Christmas parties for them at our house. Brad and Jeanette got married during that time and after watching their friends have kids, they’ve finally signed up.

Steph is the master of baskets and gave Jet this baby basket yesterday. She loved it!

Launched

Steph finally got her sponsored hot-air balloon ride on the last day and at the last minute yesterday. Her old point and shoot did quite well.
